Tezuka is "the Japanese Walt Disney"--not Miyazaki as is often claimed by Disney hypesters (who have all the US Miyazaki rights).
Big eyes--that's Tezuka, who got it from Disney.

The show title "Tezuka: The Marvel of Manga," evokes Kirby. Coincidentally or not, it seems more appropriate to me than Disney.

Disney for big eyes, sentimental characters (Kimba) and the go-to guy for a generation of Japanese animators.
(As opposed to Miyazaki who started much later and is the go-to guy for American animators such as John Lasseter who have the power to declare him the go-to guy for all mankind.)

Kirby for depth of charactor and story (Mighty Atom, Blackjack, Phoenix: Karma) and prodigious output by one artist
