Walter was an EV fixture well established when I showed up. I remember many a  closing time at the red bar where he would hangout, his wife Bebe Smith (daughter of Tony) tending bar.  Rockets Redglare was the bouncer. Had to disagree with him on occasion , in particular his negative use of the term Zombie Formalism. But he was an ambassador of EV art in general and a certified fringe member of the pictures generation.
