tgs studio and home was i think a gothic sty rectory to the church on 1st. im sure your thinking of the same place though. my brother lived a couple of doors down the st towards 1st ave.(i lived there for a year too before moving to hoboken) in between was the a highrise, the max meltzer jewish old folk home. behind them on houston was katzes. that block in the 60's was home of clasus oldenburghs store.
