Reminds me of the good ol' days of Minimalism, when everybody was into this sort of thing, and there was actually an audience that gave a damn.
One can get into certain states of mind where you're just concerned with "what is going on now?": well, it's like this; and now it's like this; and now it's like this…My friend Matt McCaslin once did a "sculpture" which was simply a weather radio, which is similar: continual updates on current conditions, but then leads into predictions of the future.
The KG piece is also a sort of tautology, an endless repetition of the realization that "hey! I'm stuck in a goddamn body here…"
Tautology can be useful, God being the prime example. His famous explanation to Moses is a tautology: "I am that I am."
Sometimes I think that the only things we can speak or know are Tautology and Prophecy: the present is Tautology; the future is Prophecy, and once we get there, Tautology again. History is just Prophecy in reverse, which is to say, it ain't exactly Truth. Truth is Tautology in reverse: it is that it is. We just don't know what it is.
Yesterday kenny played a loop of a jingle (3 min.) from the movie Giant - it was insufferable mad ave schmaltz - after an hour he broke for station id and went wack to it for a while longer.
