This war needs an anti-anthem, singable in many languages if possible. Songs help crowds feel their own power. Anybody know of a good anti-war song other than Give Peace A Chance? Yesterday's NYC march was very impressive, with a calm crowd and the police much less jittery than in February. However "Whose Streets? Our Streets!" is not much of a slogan to shout out.
how many people was yesterday....
Channel 9 evening news said "tens of thousands."
NBC nightly news said "100,000."
ABC nightly news said "125,000."
Organizers said "300,000."
And I seem to remember NYC officials saying "200,000" although this seems high for them to say, and I can't find it now. Anyone?
WNYC cites 250,000 (without attribution) and 91 arrests mostly at end of march.
heres an anti-war song resource. war (what is it good for...) would seem like a logical selection.
Song I'd steer away from: "Liberation" by the Pet Shop Boys. (I hesitate to even mention it lest the Army pick up the meme.)
