i have already heard two talking heads call saddam a coward for not going out with guns blazing and for not killing himself rather than accept capture.

also i have heard conflicting reports on whether the location was found on a tip or whether it was found via interrogation. of course, the networks are preoccupied with the notion that someone will get the $25 million bounty.

big day for zenith as their flat screens were used for the bremer press conference and are broadcasting the images of saddams capture and grooming.

Sorry, I posted here before looking at the Times. Americans love werewolf movies.

Expect a Photoshop collage somewhere soon of Saddam's head superimposed over that turkey Bush was holding on Thanksgiving.

everyone seems particularly pleased to use this as a cudgel to bash dean today. russert and brokaw have been egregious in this respect. suddenly by capturing saddam, the war has been justified.

Just got back from brunch--saw the doctor probing Saddam's mouth about 15 times on the restaurant TV. Then the staff turned up the sound so we could all listen to Jr's platitudinous speech, after which they applauded.

sounds about right. according to holbrooke, the image of his degradation is demythologizing him. i think theres a chair at the kennedy school of government waiting patiently for richard to fill it.

This is going to result in a dramatic increase in Shiite demands for an immediate election along with the immediate transfer of political control back to Iraqis. I mean, mission accomplished, right? What reason do we now have to still be there?

Saddam on the loose was actually good cover for the insane warlords in the U.S. administration.

I predict massive Shiite demonstrations by the end of January as it becomes clear to them that we are *still* not going to turn their country back over to them. Even after the capture of Saddam.

It's lucky for the U.S. that Sistani is apparently a very peaceful man. But everyone has their limits.

I decided to do it myself, using MSPaint since I don't have Photoshop where I currently am.
