| tru colors been slacking on my tennis of late but i played this morning and will be playing tomorrow for the first time on the clay (hard-tru) courts in central park. looking forward to that as its been (again) at least twenty years since ive played on clay.
that was fun. the action off the clay was more lively than i expected although it destroys the tennis balls quickly so that tends to slow things down quicker than it otherwise would. and the balls hitting the rubber tape lines are not true bounces which makes things more difficult. and the courts need constant grooming.
definitely a different scene up there than over at east river park. theres a tiny pro shop and concession stand in the clubhouse and i was told a locker room with showers although i didnt see it. i think the structure was built in 1930 and the bathroom certainly seemed to suggest that. i cant imagine the locker room could have been much better. but certainly more of a clubby feel although not snooty without the clubby prices.
FYI ... Universal HD is going to have at least some of the US Open Tennis in HD and live.
