This one really jumped out for me when I first saw it, and I see that tom also noted it. there is something crazy weird going on with the light and colour. also in the one bill posted and the recent blurry sunset shots. what is it? theres an unusual kind of contrast - more information in the mid-tones than usual? or maybe its not the technology but jim's selective eye for nice eerie lighting effects.

The camera has no manual settings, but when I first point it at something the screen is usually all white, and then over the next few seconds the exposure corrects itself. I generally watch this, and then I switch it quickly out of camera mode and then back again. Now the camera goes through the same exposure adjustment, except this time I have a sense of when to click to get the picture at the right moment. Not exactly rocket science, but it gives you a tiny bit of control. You still need a lot of luck to get a real good shot though.

In low light it is hopeless.
