Detailed scenario of a 150 kiloton nuclear blast at the base of the empire state building. (Keep clicking 'next' at the bottom of each page.)
how big or small is 150 Kilatons??
5 to 10 times the size of what we used against Japan in WWII, or the speculated size of so called "suitcase nukes." But significantly smaller than U.S. and Russian weapons. See here for some costs and sizes of US weapons. For instance, an MX Missle costs $190 million each are are loaded with 3 x 170 Kiloton warheads or 3 x 335 kiloton warheads (for 510 Kilotons and 1005 Kilotons each.) US missles on nuclear attack submarines (Trident I/C-4 missile) each have 5 x 100 kiloton warheads per missile.
So, much smaller than what the Russians (or Chinese presumably) would throw at us, but possibly larger than a simple bomb built by a less sophisticated (rougue) nation.
But who knows?
I don't know what size the indians and pakistanis have. Anyone?
