I can't get Safari to accept cookies from localhost. I dimly recall having this problem before, but I can't find any reference to it here, so maybe I'm dreaming.
Anyone?
Did you play around with your security preferences? Try setting "Accept Cookies" to "Always".
Yeah I did, although that's a good guess. Not that big of a deal, assuming it's something with Safari and not with my cookie setting. Every other browser I try works fine, and safari will accept cookies set with the exact same code, as long as the server is remote and not running on localhost.
Still, I want to get to the bottom of this, because maybe safari's behavior is strictly correct, and all other browsers are accepting my subtly incorrect cookies.
(Thanks for looking out for me Chris - not everyone has a computer professor magically appear to answer questions! ;-)
Does it work using 127.0.0.1 vs. localhost?
I'm using 127.0.0.1 actually (even though I said localhost.)
Doh!
Could the problem be with your cookie?

Nice find. That's the kind of thing I was figuring, that Safari was being correct but very strict. Except after many tests and squinting at it real good I do think the cookie is correctly formed (famous last words.) So I don't think that's my problem.
Also, remember, it will except this exact same cookie if the site is anywhere other than 127.0.0.1.
Weird, but luckily not too important. I don't mind going back to Chimera when I have to do this.
i have the same problem running a site from a cd-rom. If you come up with a solution i would be very happy to hear it. jamestann@bdpmedia.com
