The network in the office is down. Seems like the router went south, although it's hard to be 100% sure of this without a known working router to swap in. So off to the store I go. If the prices are close I'll pick up a wireless model and start my grand building unwiring plan. I'm sure this will all go without a hitch... <cue menacing music>
802.11g routers seem to be pretty cheap these days, based on tangential browsing at CompUSA today. 802.11a/g still at a premium.
Is there any future in 802.11a? I would think they are more expensive only because nobody is buying them.
Wireless rules. But it will be a while before I realize the entire building project.
At least the network problem turned out to not be one. Just had to reboot it. Of course I took all the credit as if this was very difficult to accomplish.
If 2.4 GHz gets too crowded with cordless phones, etc., etc., then "a" may have a purpose.
Oh, okay. Good point.
On an unrelated subject, are you watching this broadcast flag debate? Any comments?
No. I'll have to check it out. I did a quick google, and noticed it described by the MPAA as a benefit for consumers.
Wired story.
