Microsoft launches MSN Spaces:With MSN Spaces, you can easily create and manage your blog from your computer or your mobile phone. It's a great way to share information and photos with your friends and family. And best of all, it's free! You know, Bill Gates is right, Microsoft is all about innovation. A blog service? At the very end of 2004? Who would have thought?
I made a DKOS comment about forms of capitalism which took a swipe at that oxymoron "Microsoft innovation".
So true.
LOL, you can't write this stuff. Turns out Microsoft has a profanity filter on their blogs. This person, whose native language I do not share, tried to have the tag line "A Corporate Whore" but the system wouldn't let that go through. Check the screencap.
But it gets better. Take a peak at the terms of service, linked from the bottom of every page on MSN Spaces: For materials you post or otherwise provide to Microsoft related to the MSN Web Sites (a "Submission"), you grant Microsoft permission to (1) use, copy, distribute, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, reproduce, edit, modify, translate and reformat your Submission, each in connection with the MSN Web Sites, and (2) sublicense these rights, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Microsoft will not pay you for your Submission. Frankly, I'd like to see Microsoft publicly perform my blog, but I'm not so sure I would want to grant those other permissions.
Well, MS should be experts at corporate whoredom.
