Yes please.
They will not be able to build enough of these. Not just because they are completely amazing, but also because there is a huge pent up demand since the PowerBook was relatively stagnant for so long.
This and a new iMac were announced today and are the first Macs shipping with an Intel processor. If you care you surely know the specs of the MacBook already, but in short, it's everything you would expect plus: 1.67 or 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo processor, ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 with up to 256MB memory on 16-lane PCI Express, optical digital and analog audio I/O, built in iSight camera.
And oh yeah, Apple's share price closed at $80.86 yesterday, the day the first Intel Macs were announced. 8086! LOL. That was my first ever bank PIN code.
Man, people are really bitching about this machine. I cannot understand any of their points.
True, it doesn't have firewire 800 (it does have firewire 400.) But there were always problems with the 800 implementation (definitely on the PowerMacs, but I assume on the PowerBook as well,) and to replace it we got an ExpressCard Slot, which gives us direct external access to the PCI-Express bus! You could put two firewire 800 ports in that bandwidth!
And yes, the S-video port is gone. But how many people used it really? And presumably either the current DVI to S-video adapter will work (although no official word yet) or there will be a new one that does. So the three people who use that port will have to carry an adapter. Doesn't really seem like a reason to cry.
And finally, yes, there is no internal modem. But you can buy a $49 dollar USB modem directly from Apple. I'm not really feeling your pain.
Otherwise it's twice as fast (!) for the same price. If anyone wants my pimped out S-video plus internal modem sporting 4 generation old titanium powerbook I will gladly trade for one of these crippled new machines.
