OMG. Nokia n95. Of course it will take forever for that to hit the U.S., and possible specs have already leaked for the even more insane n97. I want that.
wow.
But the stats say that the n95 has a 5 megapixel camera whereas the n97 camera is only 3.2
N95 unboxing. It will be available very soon in the U.S., unlocked (so not tied to a specific carrier or subsidized in any way) for around $600. The price is high, but you get a lot (5 megapixel camera, WiFi, HSDPA, etc...) and I think I might actually rather pay more and not be tied to a specific carrier. I blame the whole subsidization thing for putting the U.S. way behind in the mobile space.
Anyway, very sweet phone.
Just to be clear, that N97 in the original post was a fake. I think I posted that somewhere else on the site, but since I'm adding to this thread now I'll say it again here.
Anyway, MobileBurn loves the N95. Well, at least with one reservation, which is the rather tepid battery life. Actual use of the device beyond mere phone calling (as a camera, video camera, web browser, mp3 player, GPS, etc...) will leave you with less than a full day of power on a complete charge. I guess to some that is a huge problem, but it certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. I mean, isn't everyone sitting at their desk for at least some time during the day? Just plug it in when you sit down. Doesn't seem that hard. Not optimal, for sure, but look at all the stuff it can do! (Obligatory exclamation point.) Anyway, the rest of the MobileBurn review is extremely positive. I think this is a great device.
N95 finally makes it to the U.S. Om Malik has a hands on review. But $750 - ouch.
