Jim,
where were/are these homes?
The pics taken around November, 05, are top to bottom, first three from Waveland, Miss., fourth one with doa dogs is somewhere near me in 4th Ward, and that last two are my nephew's home in Lakeview, since demolished and lot is in early stages of rebuilding, pilings driven.
Spoke with my Mom yesterday about visiting New Orleans. Some friends of hers had also visited. She said something about it being a bad idea to rebuild. I didn't want to get into an argument about how if the Dutch can do it, 'Merka can do it too. And how we're spending more each and every two weeks in Iraq than what the Boy King has pledged for the levee repair.
Is your nephew building higher? Given how much water he took on, a couple of feet wouldn't have made the difference. But since he did a demo he's got more degrees of freedom than the folks going a gut-and-remodel.
