I met Mrs. L once or twice. There was an OU-Texas weekend in Dallas that is somewhat shrouded in the mist of too much beer, and perhaps on another road trip to Dallas that year.
I also spoke with her on the phone while trying to track down her peripatetic son. I called information in Dallas and asked for the street names of all the Louis listings. The information operator was gracious enough to indulge this unusual request, and Mrs. L's street name triggered some long dormant neural pathway that had been formed more than a decade earlier during a drunken road trip.
Mrs. L and I had a nice conversation about her son, and she gave me the details of his contact information. I suppose I could have been a bounty hunter or process server intending to do harm to her flesh and blood, but I tried to casually sprinkle the conversation with enough details to dispel any suspicion.
Anyway, after that overly long preface, I just wanted to say that from my limited contact Mrs. L seems like a very nice mom, and an example of the best of what the state of Texas has to offer.
