thus far the only thing ive dug up regarding private property rights and the constitution can be found in article 5 in the amendments to the constitution and not in the main body of the constitution as originally claimed. i will search on as this was an incomplete exercise.

Article V. "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."
hardly a ringing endorsement for intellectual property rights. in fact, sounds more like the issue of eminent domain.

didnt follow that mtv announcement too closely the other day or that of musicnet or yahoo but heres a good follow up for those who dont want their music force fed by the major parties with their proprietary technologies. i wish i was more informed prior to our liquoring it up with the man. not that our advocate wasnt in full throat. i am often impressed by the mans breadth of knowledge and i am not inured to charm. and after struggling to keep up with the internet chatter with my mind split asunder, im never too sure of my own capacity to articulate. however, i do know the difference, albeit superficially, between the ottoman empire and the austro-hungarian empire. normally i will call someone out on their mistakes but instead i questioned my own intelligence. there was no otto-hungarian empire that i am aware of. sure, it may have been a slip up but when offered up with certitude, i am apt to doubt myself. now i just have to read the constitution for issues regarding private property. what was that argument again, that intellectual property rights greatly encourage innovation and production? we will bring down those behemoths yet. well?

idealogs

been reading dynamist of late. seems slate is going to launch a "me zines" section. not sure how it will manifest itself. obviously kausfiles will be included. i wonder who else will be sanctified? maybe jm marshalls talking points? and why not drat fink. if only hed get his act together. what thinkest about "me zines"? someone else was pushing "micro publishing" as an alternate to "weblogs" which apparently has alot of negative baggage attached to it already. i guess it reeks of amateurism. but really, me zines? and why not "idealogs?" its more specific and tidier than micro publishing and it comes complete with a clever pun instead of poor syntax. also "zines" are by nature amateurish and thus the stigma has not been removed. whereas "idealogs" despite sounding like a 1970s toy company has a fresh and bold outlook, one that screams (albeit demurely) "vision." or maybe, revision. when am i going to get that call from kinsley? well?
