On Wednesday afternoon the Senate narrowly voted to pass an amendment that took consideration of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge out of the fast-track budget reconciliation bill, so a vote of Yes was a vote to protect the Refuge.

Pretty close to a party line vote. Yea Babs and DiFi! jimlouis, you've got some 'splaining to do! But I suppose it would be political suicide to go against big oil in Lou-oils-iana.
yeah, i was wondering what was up with landrieu. she was just elected though so she neednt feel beholden at the moment. i also read that the hawaiian democrats were voting in solidarity with the tribes in alaska that would supposedly profit from the drilling. i guess that means jobs. way to be principled. fortunately coleman in minnesota ran on a pledge to vote against anwr drilling and despite much pressure heldfast.
