Love that drawing Sally. And yes, how can these neutrinos
just whip right through the Mona Lisa, a soldiers heart and molten centre of the world?
hhhhmmmm ... neutrinos.
hhhhmmm ...should I feel violated?
(or am I just looking for an excuse to throw a hissy fit.)
hiss away LM - tis the season! And Tino, love your poetics on the neuts. Here's John Updike's take (and yes, I believe violation comes into the picture here as well)...
Cosmic Gall
Neutrinos, they are very small.
They have no charge and have no mass
And do not interact at all.
The earth is just a silly ball
To them, through which they simply pass,
Like dustmaids down a drafty hall
Or photons through a sheet of glass.
They snub the most exquisite gas,
Ignore the most substantial wall,
Cold-shoulder steel and sounding brass,
Insult the stallion in his stall,
And, scorning barriers of class,
Infiltrate you and me! Like tall
And painless guillotines, they fall
Down through our heads into the grass.
At night, they enter at Nepal
And pierce the lover and his lass
From underneath the bed - you call
It wonderful; I call it crass.
NB: I have memorized this poem and will recited it at the slightest provocation. Consider this fair warning!
Little Neutrino - Klaatu -
Across your open mind
I trace erratic lines
In motion and in time
I fought a battle won
To the surface of the sun
Through fires on and on
It's only you
It can't be me
For I myself refuse to be
I am someone you'll never know
I am the little neutrino
Solus is not far away
It's face is brighter than a day
So don't turn me away
It's only you
It can't be me
For I myself refuse to be
I am someone you'll never know
I am the little neutrino
And now I'm passing through
The one who is known as you
And yet, you'll never know I do
I really do
(sigh)
Nice one, Tino, but I feel the need for a quick clarification...any poems posted to this blog that are not on the subject of neutrinos will be subject to immediate removal at my discretion.
Agreed.
She sat there, drinking cappuccino.
What went through her head?
A neutrino.
