lady sasquatch
Allyson Mitchell, Squirrel Lover, 2005. fun fur on found shag , 36 x 54 inches (from Paul Petro).

If you haven't seen Allyson Mitchell's installation at Paul Petro (in Toronto, North America) with 8foot pet-able, stand-alone monster Sasquatch ladies with scary teeth, teats, and fuzzy all over... make sure you get there before October 8th. Also the wall hangings (one of which is pictured here) are hot and the campfire looks hot (but its an illusion). Mitchell's last show at PP was a knockout. This one is better.

That's the exact shag carpet that was in my bedroom when I was growing up. And my mommy dearest wore mink coats.

A bit too close to home, Ms. Allyson Mitchell! (I don't remember the rodent, but maybe I suppressed it.)

Allyson Mitchell rocks. I love the shiny little plastic noses.

I really loved the show as well. It was very refreshing to see big, hairy, beastly women represented. I'm so tired of sexualized little girls in art. These beastly women reminded me alot of the 'yetti' in Robert Crumb's Whiteman comic. http://www.skookumquest.com/sasquatch/skookum_arts_crumb.htm
For all the flack Robert Crumb gets representing women this way its great to see Mitchell doin' it for the ladies.
