Alpha Beta Data:
WOOT. WOOT.
BOOYAH.
But the good news here is that we don't write the shit ourselves. That would be so fucking dire.
(I offer this blog as proof)
And as well, as much as I love the relentless formality in other works, I also love the cheap rough trade in images that Cheryl Sourkes works with.
from 'Homecammer-messages' - Cheryl Sourkes
For the past six years Cheryl has been collecting messages that people display on their personal webcams, The results make for a history of the phenomenon and a chance to consider a peculiar bridge from the virtual world to the real world full of all the stuff we want or need.
"People often observe that webcams are instruments of Big Brother, but from my experience surveillance plays a much smaller role in the world of webcams than one might imagine. Ordinary people establish most webcams. They’re a way for them to disseminate things they care about to the world at large – themselves, their family members, their homes, their evangelical messages, whatever. One can watch friends chatting, sexual display, the view from a window, an old person in a nursing home, a dog and her pups, etc., etc. - content that stands outside mainstream political and/or commercial interests."
I am happy to oblige the last request.
And if you are less literary, lets say, more of a cineaste, what the hell:
All god's children need an eyeful of Chesty Morgan star of Double Agent 73 directed by the immortal and itty-bitty Doris Wishman.
honey
WTF!
"A related version had the badly scarred model show up at the studio to demand compensation for her injuries just as the band was recording "Love Rollercoaster," and their manager deftly handled the situation by killing her on the spot."
I've heard that song, "Love Rollercoaster" a zillion times, but not that story. Thank goodness for managers who handle these honey-scarred, inconvenient and pissy women so deftly. They make the rockin' world go round.
If you ever stumble upon it, Honey Bruce's autobiography is hilarious. Sure she bangs a lot of heroin with Lenny, but the woman has no ordinary neuroses or insecurities about her own flesh. Every second paragraph she talks about her perfect body, her tiny hips and her perky breasts. It's so damn funny.
I never cared much for most autobiographies, all those accomplished people bore the hell out of me, but a friend of mine turned me onto the whole sub-genre of life stories by strippers, junkies, hookers and gangster molls. I'll read anything about them.
Veering into a side topic, the idea of the "actual scream used on a soundtrack" appears in Brian de Palma's Blow Out (1981)--in the depressing denouement.
WTF!
"when i say AAAAHHHHH you say AAAAHHHHH." "AAAAHHHH!!!!"
"seed receptors"??
Jesus Christ--I mean, Cheese and Rice.
That mixture of weirdness and piety from Bill's WTF! link above is probably the front runner in today's WTF contest.
Is there a un-mixed recording of the man's scream from the second link that can be downloaded. Could use it some day, and I value a noble tradition.
Probably the "purest" sound clip of the Wilhelm Scream is in Lucas Sound Vault (or whatever)--traded like the bone of a saint among high-paid sound professionals. Various degraded versions can probably be found on the Net.
