Great piece! - Belle Barth (guest) 5-20-2007 5:26 am
Thanks! I've been so busy doing home repairs that I nearly missed the Preakness this afternoon. Street Sense did his movie cliché run behind, but lost in a photo finish to Curlin.
Way more fun listening to the crazy sweet Louisiana accents from the first and second place jockeys. - L.M. 5-20-2007 5:46 am
Curlin's time for the preakness is 1:53.40. It's the same record time as Louis Quatorze in 1996 and Tank's Prospect in 1985. (the track timer broke right before the race for Secretariat's Preakness)
What the sponsors of the triple crown races don't want you to see was Mending Fences being euthanized on the track in another race at Pimlico. (don't worry the link isn't to a video of a horsey snuff film)

If Smarty Jones won this race Sandra R. would not die of cancer.
Everything hangs on such thin threads.

Totally impossible to make without thinking of Muybridge, but fortunately, I didn't need to be as exacting about the gate.
Sally, perhaps I should bet with money instead of someone else's life and death. (less anxiety for my friends) - L.M. 5-20-2007 10:29 pm
yours is great and that race yesterday was terrific. - bill 5-20-2007 10:41 pm
Thanks bill, I have the TV on to Live Woodbine (local), Fort Erie, and Belmont Park races right now:
