Sally's curation of Woodlot: The 3rd KW|AG Biennial opens tonight (Wednesday) and a few of us are driving to Waterloo (or Kitchener, or a combination of both, whatever, I love car rides, are we there yet?) to see the show and deliver all the somewhat repellent and creepy perved-out hugs that I know you want to send to her.
can you pick me up at the airport?
Best art outing this year.
Went to a small diner called Angie's before the opening where we were given fresh baked cookies after we finished dinner, were introduced to everyone else in the place. ("Oh ya the KWAG that's run by Al.", "So what's installation art anyway?", "hey this lady's a university professor at Guelph [Monica Tap: Lady Professor], that lady over there is a Computer Science prof at U of W") and then we were each given a loaf of fresh baked bread as we left.
The gallery is really big (I'd never seen it before) the opening was full and Sally picked some stunning work. Pictures to follow soon.
My god I've never felt so tired in my life. Thanks so much to everyone who came last night - what a turn out! I'm really thrilled with the exhibition. The artists put a lot of extra effort into their installations, and it really shows. I am also super impressed with the crew at the KWAG. There were some real installation challenges and everyone brought tons of good energy to the project to make it fun and beautiful.
Sounds like fun.
Word on the interweb is that there were 200+ at the opening.
Let's see some pics.
slave drivers! there's gonna be a catalogue online very soon. I'll make a big fuss when it goes up.
and yes, 258 people came to the opening!
