Detail from Rebecca Horn's The Contrary Concert, 1987, which is still running as part of the 2007 Münster Sculpture Project. Hammers tap away at the spiral walls of the small ruin of a 16th century prison tower while water slowly drips into the pool at the centre of the structure.
Sanja Iveković's Poppy Field, 2007, planted in Kassel's Friedrichplatz, along with the intermittent audio broadcasts of revoluntionary songs by Afghan women, as part of Documenta

Von Bark's Fun Facts about Göttingen, NeiderSachsen.
A nice little central German Mediaeval University Town which was not bombed too much in the war.
1. Fire-trucks are pink.
2. Lots of bicycles and lots of bike-paths. Autos do not rule,
3. Trams and bus stops digitally show the time when the next bus arrives
4. Trains run intercity everywhere all the time.
5. Cobble-stone pedestrian concourse in the town square.
6. Local goods in stores,
7. Plastic bags discouraged.
8. Apothocaries and cosmetic stores are separate entities.
9. Nice buildings,
10. Nice exquisite very old buildings and churchs.
11. Furniture and house-wares are simple, functional and elegant,
12. Windows open two different ways.
13. No flashy clothing. No print shirts. No obvious class distinctions in dress.
14. Little kids run free.
15. Many people have dogs,
16. All beggars have dogs.
17. Beer and hard liquor in kiosks,
18. Cigarette machines on almost every street-corner,
19. Smoking in pubs,
20. Public drinking. Lots of Beers and smokes.
21. Many local tourists, but very few foreign tourists. Heard English spoken in public by strangers only once in five days.
22. Many people can speak rather good English.
23. Most people are very polite,
24. Politeness does not extend to being jostled at the train station.
25. Rains every day,
26. Does not rain all day, every day. The sun comes out, and a nice cool sunny breeze slides by, many days.
I would highly recommend that you visit, if you have the chance.
