Gordon Hicks - LIGHT RAIN TONIGHT 2007 polycarbonate, plumbing, water 20 inches diameter, 3.5 litres per hour
Gordon Hicks - LIGHT RAIN TONIGHT 2007 installation view on Bloor Street near Lansdowne for Nuit Blanche
Part of Bloor NIGHTLIGHT, during Nuit Blanche, this is one of ten Streetlight Sculptures - a project curated by Orest Tataryn. Other streetlights were by Lois Andison, Matthew Birch, Anne O'Callaghan, Thrush Holmes, Heather Nicol, Jonathan Sabine, Orest Tataryn, Christy Thompson and John Wilcox.
I loved this piece, subtle and effective.
Of all the places we went I still liked Lansdowne the best, and this piece the best, it was a gentle surprise. (Everywhere else it looked like the art was colonising an area) The strip joint was a great venue too. Dyan Marie should be congratulated for organizing the projects in that part of town.
ya,i agree! Iam looking forward to Gordon Hicks work in fly gallery in November. He promised me there wouldn't be a flood in the basement.
That's a great piece.
Damn. Look at all the great stuff I missed at Bloor-Lanzzzzdowne. Gordon, that is a very nice lamp post. We were there, but were looking the wrong way apparently.
Unless LM has photoshopped a bunch of art works to hoax me. You wouldn't, would you LM?
Ben I'd happily go to a lot of trouble to hoax you, but I wouldn't dick around with Gordon Hick's work.
