Is that not the best Cornelius Krieghoff painting ever!
(Anthony Easton told me to pour a bucket on paint on a Krieghoff, but he's never seen this one)
I really like this series from Chantal.
there is something here interesting in the incongruity of the killing of game and the obv. northern european landscape, a jostling that is absent in most of his other work.

(the interesting thing, is that in the painting above is teh trees ovewhelm the composition, thats the big difference.)
The tree roots are also disturbingly saturated in blood.
oh, i thot that was sumac
bloody sumac! I think its both.
Constable & Lorrain from Anthony's links
Stuart told me that the Krieghoff got a low estimate because it was too dark for the sort of collector that likes him. I happened to be visiting the gallery when it came in as a donation and I went bat-shit crazy over it.
I would totally buy a package of shortbread cookies from the Hudsons Bay food court if that image was on the tin.
I'd also buy shortbread cookies if Chantal's foxes were on the tin.
I want my art on a cookie tin.

Hi, I would just like to ask if you have the Claude Lorrain image in its large and original size? Would be much help!
Sorry, those are the largest I found.
