Sandra Rechico & Gwen MacGregor - Distance (Kassel) 2008 graphite on paper
Got any dimensions for this? It's lovely.
I seem to remember each one being an arm span.
Holy!
The curved line drawings are Sandra's, The straight lines are Gwen MacGregor's. The length of the pencil line represents the distance each artist travelled in Kassel. (Scale 1:1)
Thanks for the correction, I changed the tagline.
The next question is: Did Gwen go further but on tippy toes and did Sandra march?
This is such a great show.
Apparently some of the distance discrepancies have to do with how each of them measure their travel through the cities. Gwen uses GPS (I think) and Sandra uses super detailed hand-written notes.
Or one of them gets lost a lot...
True Gwen does get lost, and she's the one with the GPS. My drawing is 69km, hers is 82, and I drew flat, she drew on the wall, we actually found that my notes are typically more accurate!
That can only be Ms. Rechico commenting above.
