HAPPY CANADA DAY!
As our friend, Hannah Evans, recently pointed out, July 1st is the anniversary of the passage of the British-North America Act, and we are celebrating AN ADMINISTRATIVE SUCCESS!
YES!
I think this has already entered the list if my all-time favourite blingees.
And by "if", I mean "of", of course. Already holiday drunk.
Happy Canada Day indeed. Yay peace, order and good government... hey... Toronto...wait a sec... what happened to those ideals last week?
Wish I could be celebrating Canada Day in Canada but some things are not meant to be, so I am toasting our mother country and sally mckay/lorna mills with a Vodka and Bitter Lemon from the heart of the middle east.
(The blingee is beautiful)
Thank you Gabby, I've been trying to strike a balance between celebration and gravitas that is appropriate to this very important day.

Thanks Hannah, and we hope hope you sort out all those problems in the Middle East, and return home soon.
Last night on the National some producer told Peter Mansbridge he had to smile a lot while talking about Canada Day. The result was a chilling rictus of cheeks and teeth interspersed with images of the Queen trying to be polite while she dodders around the country.
Email from R.M.V.: "Here's a picture of David Bateman giving a wolverine a good talking to. What could be more Canadian? "
Yeah, what was it with all Peter's grinny teeth? I thought he was maybe high, and waited for him to mess up. But no, alas.
I bet it went something along the lines of: "Enough with all this G20 gloom and doom - it's time to put a positive spin on the news!" Unfortunately the Queen herself has been looking particularly glum. So Peter was trying to make up for it by being all sprightly.
Is Peter saying "queen"? Looks like he is at least.
I love Canada day - it often marks the beginning of the tour de France. I'm undesided still, but I think this year I shall cheer for Andy Schleck.
I cheer for the riders who take the most drugs.
I cheer for vehement denial - also know as the Floyd Landis award.
A nice Canada Day Greeting from Mr. Moody that I just saw.
