Lee Goreas New Works at Birch Libralato, 129 Tecumseth Street, Toronto. April 30 – June 4, 2011.
Opening: Saturday, April 30, 5–8 pm
this was a boring and obvious show, with no photographic skill, intended for corporate board rooms and hotel lobbies. the title image has the sexism of the mid 60s, in its ironic and nostalgic way, with none of the analytical skill of texts like madmen, which it is obv. riffing on.
The Happy Hooker was written in 1971. The part of Xaviera Hollander was played by Redgrave in the 1975 movie.
retro-sexism done as camp irony, still though
