Kinetta will introduce a digital camera at NAB Digital on Apr. 18 that will have an optional hand-crank attachment. This will permit users to shoot at fully variable frame rates, from time-lapse to 60 fps (progressive), depending on which sensor their camera is fitted with.
The user can choose between “Cine Mode” and “Ramp Mode.” Cine Mode will vary both frame rate and exposure, which will add frame-by-frame exposure variations (or flicker) to the image. Ramp Mode will vary only the frame rate, but keep exposure constant (within certain constraints).
The weighted handwheel is normally geared like a standard motion picture camera, with 8 frames captured per revolution. However, this gearing is electronically adjustable, to permit convenient cranking speeds at any desired frame rate.
I'm looking forward to this.
