Can a bottle of wine really be worth $700? Slate's Mike Steinberger this so:
What a nose—hazelnut, oatmeal, sweet white fruit, smoke, spice, and a touch of nutmeg. Stirring nose. Ripe, spicy, sublime, succulent grapefruit, pear. Perfect balance. Holy shit.

like he sez, that wine sells for $2000+.......i have not drank that vintage but have had old ones, very stunning but I would rather have 2cs of a great gruner instead....and at $2000 make that 4cs

wow lots of talk about this piece in the wine world, the comments have in some cases been unfriendly......last nite at Mas I saw the 02 for $900 and the 04 for $1000, they are both 50% off retail , with tax tip and food for 4 they would be $3000 still 25% off retail

Never had Coche's Corton Charlemagne but had the Bonneau de Martray '96. Not bad stuff and lingers for ages in the mouth. C-C was the first wine Theo ever tasted too -- one drop on the lips at six weeks old and she smiled afterwards. Thanks for the pointing out the story...

96 sounds too young for Theo, released in 1998.....Corton Charlie is a sweet spot in Chard-Land.....Bonneau has allways been a great bargin
