Get Skinny 2007:
The plan is to loose 15+ pounds in 2007, clean the liver (so can maintain the regular schedual of getting it dirty??, yes but also to purify all the chemicals to leave a longer life).....
Q1 Plan (if I can pull it off):
Jan 19th (new moon) "Liver Flush"
Mid March a 4 to 8 day "Master Cleanse"
2007 Hit List:
Blue Hill and Blue Hill "Uptown".....so many people have put this at the top of thier NYC best eats in 06.....
Babbo.....its been too many years since I have been (still love Lupa and Otto is my fav 3-4pm quiet late bar lunch)
Tocqueville, Rosanjin, Degustation, Bar Masa......
THE TRY FECTOR
1/2/3) Locanda Vini Olii, Clinton Hill Brooklyn.....the best Italian food in NYC IMHO, I allways eat way too much but its impossible to not want to pig out here, spring menu here is grand cru....
1/2/3) 11 Madison Park....I find the food fantastic, almost every dish.....clean, flavorful, and just rich enough.....love the room
1/2/3) wd~50.....this years awesome gaspacho almost beet out the first version and is of course tied for "dishs of the year", lots of other amazing new treats came out from the lab in 06, sadly I do have to say I miss Sam Mason in the dessert department (his new place will be on this top 10 in 07 for sure)
4) Aburiya Kinnosuke 213 East 45th......Cooked Japanese places have been poping up all over in 05/06, and some like Sakagura have been open 10 years. This is my fav of the bunch w/amazing chicken meatloaf, tofu many ways, and plenty of other tasty treats (r u ready for grilled dried fish??)....
cured ham 18 lb leg retailing for $320
the spanish table
jamon imberico
Until now it has been unavailable in the U.S. Finally last fall the first producer in Spain was approved by the U.S. Government to export Iberico products to the U.S. Of course it takes a couple of years to produce a Jamon, so we are taking deposits on the scarce first shipments which will arrive in 2007-2008.
5) Sripraphai (aka Super Thai) 6413 39th Ave, Woodside....here is also tied for "dishs of the year"; fried soft shell crabs and fried watercress salad apps, both amazing....this place makes for great leftovers, sauces rock....it is spicy, $10-$15 corkage, bring very fruity wine, I like to order "medium spicy" to be wine friendly...GO!
6) Trestle on Tenth 24th corner 10th Ave.....love this place for the well priced "natural" wine list plus the hearty food...love the crepinette which is tied for "dishs of the year", lamb saddle, ribs, and at lunch the chicken Vol au Vent is not to be missed.....
7) Tia Pol....even though the menu stays the same I love this place, and almost all the menu (the lovely owners are opening in thier own words "a real tapas restaurant" next spring, I am going everyday for a week!! And I know it will rock the 07 charts)
8) Grand Sichuan 33/34 Lex location....our current hang out of this "chain", when its on its ON!!
But sadly I am feeling MSG is not good for the body, so I am going to have to rething this place for 07....
stone ipa (hoppy holidays!)
who are you calling a knob of butter?
9) Tommaso's 86th St Brooklyn.....great priced old wines plus when Chef Tom is cooking for you it can be quite excellent home-style hearty regional Italian....
The Top 10 Countdown to Best Meal NYC 2006.....
10) Minca 536 East 5th St---home made ramen noodles and fatty pork, amazing broths....
