I noticed that Tom and Bill both had weird situations where viewing their pages from the [new post] link on the front page resulted in the doubling of posts. Viewing the page regularly (without the /?new) was fine.
Have you guys been using the preview? My guess is that is where the problem is. Any info is helpful.
no i dont use the preview option. I do noodle around with the post through frequently, getting it just right.
Oh, the problem is probably in [edit] then. That's helpful. I can see how that might be the case since I made some changes to [edit] to support the new preview on comment functions. Probably each time you edit the post the edit script is putting another copy of the post ID onto the unread stack. Thanks.
I'll get on this right away, but just for curiosity: Tom - can you verify that you edited your two most recent posts?
I just had a duplicate on my Treehouse woodpecker post; I didn't edit or preview, but I was distracted while posting and might have hit "post" twice, but I don't think so...I deleted the 1st one.
I think I spoke too soon. Now I'm getting "double or nothing" posts on Dave's page. I wrote a comment using the preview, and now when I try to post it appears twice. If I delete one, both posts disappear. (This didn't happen on my page, when I briefly had double posts yesterday, however. One post, not both, disappeared when I hit delete.)

When I posted yesterday I used the preview and accidently hit the "treat as new post" twice while doing some post-post editing. I doubt there's anything wrong with the system in my case.

Oh. Well still, it should double check and not let you do that. Thanks for the info.

Addendum: the double or nothing effect only occurred when I tried to add a comment to an earlier comment in the thread. When I tacked it onto the last comment in the string, it worked fine.
