Problems are already appearing.

I'll have to think about how to handle this. It may not even be a bug. Anyway, when you create new pages, there is now an expanded facility to create the new page just like a page that already exists. When you do this the system makes the page in the same style (chronological, alphabetical, numeric,) copies the style sheet, copies any permanent text (left_text, top_text,) and also copies all the subscription information.

What just happened now (I'm guessing) is that alex made a new page using this cloning method - but he cloned /arboretum, so we all ended up having the new page on our front page (because it copied all the subscription information from arboretum, and we all have arboretum on our home pages.)

Perhaps cloning is too powerful. Maybe it shouldn't copy subscriptions too. I'm not sure. Anyway, just be aware that when you create a new page "just like" an older page, it really will be just like it.

think theres some glitch with the comments but im not sure how i keep tripping it but when i hit 'comment' to add a post it throws me to the 'no new posts on this page' instead of to a posting window, and then if i backclick it goes to the dmt homepage. this might be happening only (not sure) if im accessing the post through a 'new' post or 'comment' option on the dmtree homepage. ill try to pin it down.

Nice one. That was weird. Think I got it. (It was happening only if you had followed the [new comment] link.)

  • might be another small error, i think also when you enter through 'new comment' there is no space between the time and the comment on the information line but i think its normal in all other cases.

  • Wow. Thanks. You and Alex are going to give Tom a run for his money. And we all know what a lucrative position lead bug hunter is...

something is funky with the preview option at least on df. i think after i 'previewed' a post i edited and then 'updated' which then threw me out to a df page with only a search box on the page and nothing else. and possibly another time it sent me to a blank dmtree comment type page (no df colors).

  • OK, I've done some work on preview. Should at least take you to the correct page now. This still needs some work though.

Just FYI, you can see all previews you have waiting, anywhere on the site, from digitalmediatree.com/preview/

And you can see just the previews from a particular page through digitalmediatree.com/some/particular/page/preview/

OK. The more specific you can be the better. I'll try to reproduce this. Thanks. I'm sure preview is messed up somehow. I haven't spent much time on that yet.

how about that if there are new comments on say the systems news page and i enter from the dmtree homepage there is no way of knowing where the new comments are without entering a thread first. has that always been the way or would the "# comment" be in red?
- dave 4-30-2002 8:28 pm [add a comment]

Yes, you're right. It used to show you in red. I will get this back in.
- jim 4-30-2002 9:13 pm [add a comment]

New comments should now be displayed in red on the top pages as Dave suggested above.
