no objection.
the largest number of viewers on my log has a blank space next to it. where are these people coming from, or is that me? its not just on the complete log though its in the "not me" logs as well which is why i assume its not me.
also i still get hits from weblogs.com but dont seem to show up on their list. i never changed anything regarding their site. did i need to in order to show up? i just noticed that jimslog is there.also did you get my email about my outlook problem?
Blank lines in your hit log are from hits where no refering page is provided. This could be people typing in your URL directly, or using a bookmark (although some browsers report the refering page as [bookmarks] in those cases) or it could be some sort of spider that doesn't provide a refering page. If it's really a lot then probably a spider is at least involved.
I got the email, but forgot to look into it. I'll do so today.
I set your page to notify userland under their new system. I'll post something to /systemnews explaining how I did this. Let me know if there are problems with this, as your page is a little different.

does that mean you just did it or you did it a few days back because i have looked at weblogs.com a few times recently and have not seen dratfink listed.

The capability has been there for a week or so, but I have it off by default. I just (a few minutes ago) turned it on for your page specifically. You should notice it when you post. Let me know if you don't get a message back when you submit a new post.

Have you made a post since I changed it earlier today? They are no longer sending their spider out hourly. Now they will only send the spider out (on the hour) if you have notified them sometime within the last hour that your page has changed. So when you post, this system should send the message, and then whenever the next hour hits their spider should come to verify that your page has changed, and then you should show up.
Of course, it might not be working for some reason. It won't work if you just edit a post, so also it won't work if you post as a 'preview' and then really post it by editing and changing it to a regular post. I will be adding an optional check box to the edit page so that you can notify userland on edits as well, but that's not in place yet.
