how to save internet radio
The only way I can get KFJC in Boulder Creek is over the internet.
If they stay at under 220 listeners (average), it costs them only $500 per year. If they go beyond that paltry number of listeners, they're in the commercial category.
If you assume 720 hours per month, 20 songs per hour (kinda short for non-commercial radio, but go with me), an average of 1000 listeners, and $0.002 per song-listener it will cost them $28,800 per month to keep their internet streams going. No fucking way.
Recording labels should negotiate royalty system
Mercury News Editorial
Rep. Ed Markey, chairman of the House Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet, described the new royalty ruling as a "body blow" to the Internet radio industry and hinted last week that Congress might get involved.
If the recording labels are smart, they will avoid a legislative battle and negotiate a fairer royalty system on their own.
Ed Markey -- "He is responsible for introducing legislation to change daylight saving time to begin on the second Sunday in March and end on the first Sunday in November starting in 2007. One of his reasons for doing this according to him was that it "puts a smile on everyone's face.""
Gee, thanks. My fucking MS Outlook calendar doesn't work. I'm not smiling. Fix the radio on the intertubes and we're even.
