Comcast's platform blocks access to content not bought through their storefront. Oh, wait.

Not really blocked, but I guess there could still be objections to their guidelines.

11.2 Apps utilizing a system other than the In App Purchase API (IAP) to purchase content, functionality, or services in an app will be rejected
11.3 Apps using IAP to purchase physical goods or goods and services used outside of the application will be rejected

This appears to be the terms in question. Thus, Amazon's Kindle service breaks 11.2. Purchases are not made by IAP. If they comply with 11.2, then Amazon break 11.3 with their "buy once read everywhere" policies. Netflix has the same problem.

This really looks like a dick move by Apple. They want to extort money from their "partners" and will screw their customers to do so.

Puts a damper on the excitement of getting a new iPod touch in the mail this morning.

I'm hoping for a backlash that will get apple to back off 11.2 and 11.3, but I'm not holding my breath. If Sony sues for discriminatory practices will apple liberalize their policy or enface it consistently?

More on the app store kerfuffle.
