With a 3Mbps Internet application, you can use the app for 20 hours per month in NZ, 80 hours in Canada and 200 hours in the US. The US number doesn't sound too awful, except that 3 Mbps is some weak ass shit.
If the "pipe" provider sells content, they have a built in incentive to limit their users access to other sources of content. That's what this is about IMHO. (see apple v. Sony)
