ars technica gropes the atrix
Mine arrived yesterday, but it's locked. Waiting for a sim.
Cool. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Do you have the lapdock too? Does it always come with that, or is that an optional purchase?
D'uh. Now I see: $300 option. Of course that makes sense.
I got something called the video dock, IIRC. It's a little dock with HDMI and USB ports. I've got lots of keyboards and displays, so I don't need the lapdock. A colleague is getting one, so I'll have a look at it. It's supposed to be very svelte, which may explain some of the cost.
Using mine in webtop connected via HDMI to a display. I don't have a mouse or keyboard hooked up, but the screen on the Atrix becomes a mouse pad, including gestures. It also will put up a little keyboard. Pretty cool.
AT&T won't provide data (without an additional plan) in webtop mode, so I have to use wifi if I'm using HDMI.
For some reason it's not doing 1080p. I can get 720p. At this point I'm confused about what resolutions work with what. So this could be pilot error, or "HDMI goes out, HDMI goes in, sometimes a miscommunication."
