hey I'm digging image #3516! I spent a couple of hours today on the 401 in the fog and rain and mist from truck tires. And the windows in the car were fogged as well. And also my brain was fogged from hangover. This is prettier.
Bill posted it somewhere (?) as a single .gif, #3515. For some reason I downloaded and re-uploaded it as #3516 to make the grid. Must have been spacin'. In this form it looks a lot like a Carl Fudge painting from 1997-1998, right before he made his style more accessible and promptly got famous. Just kidding, Carl, wherever you are, but I really like those allover "static" paintings from '97-'98.
i pulled it before i noticed that you (re)posted it here / It came from the wfmu.org message board (where i find a lot of good stuff, including the disco ball.)
I couldn't resist making a carl fudge gif. I know its kind of disrespectful. It also isn't as pretty as 3516. Needs more frames.
I have too much time on my hands. but soon I'll be employed. sigh.
I offer condolences regarding imminent employment.
Ditto. Awesome Carl Fudge .gif! I think it's perfectly OK to run with/improve on an idea he (foolishly) abandoned.
thanks guys. What do you like better? money or time?
beer or bread ?
I started a whole lifetime of "what do you like better, x or y?" questions in the early 80s. Our parents were splitting up and I would torture my brother by repeatedly asking him "Who do you like better, Kate or Allie?" in reference to the TV show about plucky divorced moms who move in together with their kids. The form of the question and it's irritant-factor has been embedded in my mind, eventhough the content updates continually.
I can easily imagine having enough money, but not enough time. While there are those among us on the planet with billions of dollars, very few get more than 100 years.

I was in a studio program with Carl while he made those paintings from 97-98. For a few years after the residency he worked on a website that published studio visits with guest artists and they were trying to introduce streaming video to the site. I had a 14.4 modem at the time and had yet to surf the web. He's probably not working on that anymore. I don't recall the name of the organization or URL.
I wasn't surprised to see comments about static for Tom's gif. It's very static-y - a cool effect. Sally's gif of Carl's paintings is hypnotic and spaceage.
