Here are the best two quotes to emerge from media coverage of the Iraq war so far, right up there with "We had to destroy the village in order to save it," from an unnamed and possible fictitious major in the Vietnam era. These are better because they're completely attributable. Please mention them to at least one person today, ideally from the Bush camp, so you can watch her or him sputter.
Quote 1 (from Diane Sawyer's ABC interview with the President):
SAWYER: But stated as a hard fact, that there were weapons of mass destruction, as opposed to the possibility that he could move to acquire those weapons still --
BUSH: So what’s the difference?
Quote 2: "With a heavy dose of fear and violence, and a lot of money for projects, I think we can convince these people that we are here to help them." --Lt. Col. Nathan Sassaman, quoted in the New York Times.
In the interview the Shrub repeats the lie about Ansar Islam, or more correctly Ansar al-Islam, proving an Iraq-al Qaeda connection. In truth they were operating in the defacto US protectorate of Kurdistan, not Saddam's Iraq. Maybe the Shrubster is confused rather than lying. He wasn't hired to keep track of details.

Thanks for the sticker designs and also giving the backup citations. For those who didn't see them, I posted Sawyer interview excerpts here, along with commentary from Liberal Oasis.
Here's a pro-Democrat soundbite I'd like to get out there:
"Bush didn't catch Osama bin Laden because he needs to keep giving Terror Alerts right up to the election."
How about a Limbaugh sound bite (or two!) crowing that terrorism is good for his side. I liked Rush better when he was a heroin addict.
"If something like 9/11 happens next October, it's a no-win situation for Dean or any Democrat. The president who has tried to stop terrorism, who has been the only president in 12 years to engage it, is going to be reelected in a landslide."
“The American people are not going to sit around and do nothing if a terrorist act happens again, and they aren't going to want to sit around and let the United Nations handle it. The president, who's been dealing with it, has a track record of success to show for it, is going to be standing very tall if something like this happens again, not Howard Dean.”
