The cool people: the following U.S. Senators voted against the appointment of Condi "Mushroom Cloud" Rice, who is now the Secretary of State:
James Jeffords, Independent, of Vermont, and Democrats Mark Dayton of Minnesota, Barbara Boxer of California, Edward M. Kennedy and John Kerry of Massachusetts, Carl Levin of Michigan, Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia, Jack Reed of Rhode Island, Richard Durbin of Illinois, Daniel Akaka of Hawaii, Evan Bayh of Indiana, Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey and Tom Harkin of Iowa.
These people know a liar when they see one, as do we, the hapless public.

Name one LIE that Condi said. Lie is a very strong personal attack that most level headed people wouldn't use. WHEN YOU CAN'T ARGUE THE FACTS......PERSONAL ATTACK!!!

Here's one:
Portion of condi's testimony before the 9/11 commission followed by portion of a live report on NPR on morning of 9/11/2001.

Transcript: Testimony of Condoleezza Rice Before 9/11 Commission:
BEN-VENISTE. Isn't it a fact, Dr. Rice, that the Aug. 6 P.D.B. warned against possible attacks in this country? And I ask you whether you recall the title of that P.D.B.

RICE. I believe the title was Bin Laden Determined To Attack Inside the United States. Now, the P.D.B. -

BEN-VENISTE. Thank you.

RICE. No, Mr. Ben-Veniste -

BEN-VENISTE. I will get into the -

RICE. I would like to finish my point here.

BEN-VENISTE. I didn't know there was a point.

RICE. Given that - you asked me whether or not it warned of attacks.

BEN-VENISTE. I asked you what the title was.

RICE. You said did it not warn of attacks. It did not warn of attacks inside the United States. It was historical information based on old reporting. There was no new threat information. And it did not, in fact, warn of any coming attacks inside the United States.

9-11-2001 National Public Radio (NPR) live coverage of the attacks on its show Morning Edition. Host Bob Edwards went to a reporter in the field—David Welna, NPR's Congressional correspondent—who was in the Capitol building as it was being evacuated. Here is the crucial portion of Welna's report:

I spoke with Congressman Ike Skelton—a Democrat from Missouri and a member of the Armed Services Committee—who said that just recently the Director of the CIA warned that there could be an attack—an imminent attack—on the United States of this nature. So this is not entirely unexpected.

Thanks, she was definitely lying about what the Administration knew about al Qaeda pre-9/11. I was going to say it's her quote "We wouldn't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud"--there was plenty of reliable expert opinion before the Iraq war that Saddam had no nuke capability. Rice et al cherry picked "facts" to scare the American people into war. And 87 Senators just let her get away with it.

As I see it the "mushroom cloud" quote wasn't technically a lie, it was a scare tactic - propaganda that supported the lies of Bush, Cheny, Rumsfeld, Frist etc. Condi's slippery that way. Her statements about the yellowcake uranium and the aluminum tubes, those were lies.
