Young art consumers viewing the collaboration I did in Toronto with John Parker. The exhibition is "Mods & Rockers." The videos are documented here and the audio is here.
I like the way the wall is broken up, grey/white, really helps liven up the installation.
looks like a cool show
what's the work about?
Those are beautiful photos, especially the top one with the little girl's dress colours repeated in the glass reflections and in the video image.
The gallery director was so concerned about the reflections in the late afternoon, but the grid on the big glass doors, across from the showcases, work well with the masking on the video cases. (It probably makes the most sense with Tom's stuff.)
The grey and white stripes running down the gallery wall served to denote the artist teams--each of the paired glass cases was a Mod/Rocker collaborative teamup/battle. Right?
Yes. The pairings were also emphasized by the off centre placement of the monitors within the vitrines. (I personally didn't notice the grey and white stripes until I saw these pictures)
I'm very happy with the show including the grey and white stripes on the wall. The reflections are not nearly as prominent in real life. There are more installation shots & artists' statements here.
