i am amazed that it took me this long to get a backyard space....yes it involved moving out of NYC due to costs but now i have a 20 foot forsithia(sp?), lilac, roses, roderdendrums (sp?), herb garden, violets, etc besides cahirs, tables, bugs, and soon a grill....
and by forsythia, he means wisteria
Last Wednesday, the flower buds on the Wisteria were barely turning purple. By Saturday it was in bloom. It’s already almost at the point shown in this picture from 5/7/00. After the mild winter, and last week’s hot spell, the spring is running about two weeks ahead of average.

I think it can last a couple of weeks, but that's depending on the weather. Another effect of the hot spell seems to be that many blooms have come and gone faster than usual. The Japanese Cherries, which usually hang around till Mayday, are already fading. Look fast, or you may miss this Spring. Be careful with Wisteria, it's a strangler, and it's poisonous, which may have something to do with its inclusion in this TS Eliot poem, but I'll leave the interpretation to you.

Cornell says all parts, others point to the pods and seeds, but you'd have to eat a lot to have a problem.
And your little dog, too.

Not only that, nobody's got a greek typeface, so you lose the intro. There's a translation here, but you have to scroll down for it.
