Kiss your ass goodbye.
i am popping all my wine this weekend!!
We're all going to be solid-state long before any of this is a problem.
I prefer the wild-eyed optimism of Tipler’s Omega Point. At least both theories are scientifically responsible, if contradictory. But hey, the Universe is sure to:
a: Crunch big time.
b: Spread itself too thin.
c: Have it both ways.
Of course the UW guys are just talking about Earth, let alone the Universe. So the folks up to bat at the Omega Point, if that’s us, and maybe it’s somebody else, with better timing, but if it’s us, that means another 10-20 billion years of development. Never mind dealing with Earth’s demise half way along, I’m just not sure I’m up to it, given what this species has gone through in a few millennia, not to mention the last century. Billions of years? It gets hard to imagine. But maybe that’s what it takes to save reality.
