I've never been overly enthusiastic about Jeff Beck's recorded music but I saw him live at Wolftrap for the first time tonite and it was fantastic. Drummer formerly for Zappa was also impressive. Keyboard player was no slouch. Drive back here in light traffic took only one hour. I was only person on road for last three or four miles, which after driving in DC traffic is a sweet thing indeed.
I saw twice once and loved it, he played a tour with Steve Ray Vaugn(sp?)
I saw Beck with Jan Hammer at the Palladium in ‘77. It was great but awful. Triple bill of Lenny White, Jon-luc Ponty and Beck took Jazz/Rock over the edge; after that I was ready for Punk. Still like Truth, but let's not even talk about Rod's later years...
thats alexes punk story (again). its true its true !
No, that’s the Jazz Rock story. The Punk story is about the Contortions at Max’s, well, maybe that’s a No Wave story...
Jon-luc was cool for a minute and then he bugged me. I was glad for punk/wave too, even though I wasn't always fully aware of what it was that was surrounding me (in Austin) at the time.
