donnie baseball is back. and fwiw, he should definitely grow back the mustache.
And with Willie Randolph as bench coach and heir apparent. I dunnow, I’m kinda scared for these guys. Don never seemed to cherish the NY madhouse, and while Willie is a legitimate managerial prospect, it might be better for him to get some experience elsewhere first. The Yankees are in a precarious position, and neither of these guys can do much about it. The Torre era has been great, but it’s showing signs of unraveling. We may be heading for another “wandering in the desert” period, like 1965-74, or worse, 1982-94, when Steinbrenner fired managers yearly and spent freely, but somehow never on winning pitchers. I hope these beloved vets don’t end up bloodied, ala Yogi in 1964 and 85.
