zig-zag-zell
I heard a bit of the mad zellephant this morning on NPR. My response? "'Angry', Zell. The word is 'angry'. We all know you're mad."
i dont see how what zell said was any different than what we hear everyday from limbaugh and his ilk. and a key part of roves strategy is to root around the base for 4 million new voters as opposed to strictly going after undecideds. so some red meat was necessary and who better than a turncoat democrat, one that on the surface could not be accused of partisan behavior. of course, it wasnt really what he said but the tenor of his delivery that upsets the heathers. as long as the same critique is watered down and delivered amiably by such leading lights as guiliani and schwarzenegger it receives approbation.
Digby: "The speech made Buchanan sound like the other Jenna. But the problem, Jonah [Goldberg], is that you can pretend that the GOP has some distance from the speech all you want because Miller calls himself a Democrat. But, how are you going to explain the shrill, shrieking freaks in the audience whose eyes were veritably rolling back in their heads in ecstasy every time old Zell let fly. Are they Democrats too?"
