found this electronics outlet through some price searching site. looks to be only a couple of blocks away. i doubt its a user friendly store but looks better than wholesale liquidators on broadway.
I've bought from them. If I remember right it was some Samsung HD TVs for work. Low prices, and no problems.
just got back from there. as expected their showroom is a terrible waste of space. nothing says customer-friendly like "buzz me in." and most everything was in some off-site warehouse. but on one item the price on the box was lower than the internet list price, and he gave me the lower price. actually someone came in and wished the curmudgeonly owner a happy pesach, which led me to ask if there was a passover sale. without missing a beat he said that everything was 10% more. i also asked if theyd been there along time. his reply -- "is 1963 a long time?" crusty, eh? meanwhile just up the street theyre pressing fresh horseradish on the street at the pickle place. get it while its hot.
MB says there used to be a guy with a pushcart who grated fresh horseradish on Rivington Street. Supposedly his hands were swollen to gigantic balloon-like size from handling the horseradish all day. I've always liked that image.
Also, speaking of horseradish, the snap pea with fresh grated horseradish at Momofuku is amazing. Sure, it's like $11 or something (and not even that big!) but it was the best snap peas I've ever had. Made me think I needed to track down some fresh horseradish and now I know where.
made my first juice this morning -- carrot, beet, celery, ginger and garlic. the machine is fast and powerful and the feed tube is huge but thats not necessarily a good thing for juicing. id say the waste pulp is wetter than i had hoped which means its somewhat inefficient. if i keep at it maybe ill upgrade at some point to a masticating model as opposed to the centrifugal type i have now. heres a comparison chart. i had planned to get the l'equip 110.5 centrifugal juicer because it was smaller than the one i ended up with but they didnt have it at the showroom. probably the best deal going though.
i also bought this blender/smoothie machine. probably should have gone with a more conventional blender but i was seduced by the 1500 watts of power. burned out my last blender pretty quickly on those frozen bananas. well have to see if that spout is worthless as my smoothies are pretty thick.
nullified

If you put frozen bananas through your juicer it comes out like ice cream.
