The other morning your niece and I were watching the news over breakfast. The news contained the obligatory piece on the paternity of Anna Nicole's baby. In an exasperated tone your niece, who is eight, said, "Doesn't her mother know who that baby's father is? Doesn't it have to be someone she was sort of like married to or really liked? Why doesn't her mother know that?" I replied something to the effect that it was complicated since there was more than one man who fit that description (I'd had about two sips of coffee at this point). So your niece replies, "Well, why don't they just do rock, paper, scissors or one potato two potato and decide already?"

Luckily we got our TV just recently and so have missed almost all of the Anna Nicole Smith story. And I'm grateful because it can be hard to not get sucked in. But it sounds like Mary already has the critical prowess to spot the fluff.
